Oceans First, Space Next – Live Online Event

Joe Quirk has spoken twice at NASA Ames, at the New Worlds Conference hosted by the New Worlds Institute, and at the InterPlanetary Festival hosted by the Santa Fe Institute.

Check out this short introductory video Joe narrated for the BBC:

President and Seavangelist of The Seasteading Institute, Joe Quirk, will give a presentation and lead a discussion on how developing technology to build seasteads will contribute to developing similar technologies for space travel.

Join us for the live, online event, “Oceans First, Space Next” on November 14, 2020 at 10AM Pacific.

Seasteading is living on environmentally restorative floating islands with some degree of political autonomy.

The term comes from homesteading, which means making a home for oneself in new, uninhabited places. It generally has associations with self-sufficiency and a frontier lifestyle. Seasteading is reminiscent of that idea, but at sea.

In this special presentation, he will host a discussion on how the seasteading movement and the space industry can cooperate to create new societies on the sea and in space.
