Renan is an environmental, electrical, and renewable energies engineer pursuing the combination of skills and knowledge required to engineer a safer, cleaner, more prosperous and socially acceptable world. Collaborating in the field of Genetic Engineering, Renan was, during his undergraduate years, a researcher at CNPQ – The Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development. He was responsible for the analysis, selection, and development of studies in one of all the various forms of luminescence present in nature, bioluminescence, as a renewable energy source capable of attenuating the environmental energy stress needed to supply large urban centers. He has characterized, in silico, a bioluminescent enzyme that has the potential to meet current and future needs. Renan has also established – on his campus – a program to prevent violence against women. The program aimed to raise awareness, in the psychosocial sphere, about violence, especially against women, by providing a restructuring of dysfunctional beliefs on the roles of social actors; developing relational skills; and encouraging societal positive integration in communities. Renan says he is powered by the most renewable energy source in the Universe: Love.
