Mason works as an emergency physician and inventor. He earned a bachelor's degree in engineering before completing his medical studies. In addition to his work, he is also interested in law and how it can be used to advance, or hinder, human society. Mason is extremely interested in seasteading for both the political-legal as well as technical possibilities it offers. He believes that seasteading will both provide a refuge from intrusive government overreach while also serving as a stepping stone to living in space and on other planets.
