Franco Cortese is a futurist, author, and editor, who has researched and written widely on the subjects of transhumanism, overpopulation, and the solutions to rapid depletion of resources and living space. Among other positions, Franco holds the title of Affiliate Scholar at the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies, Affiliate Researcher at the ELPIs Foundation for Indefinite Lifespans, Director of the Canadian Longevity Alliance, and Executive Director of the Center for Transhumanity. He has written for H+ Magazine, the Journal of Geoethical Nanotechnology, India Future Society, Serious Wonder, Immortal Life and The Rational Argumentator, and edited a compendium of 150+ essays from more than 40 authors, titled, “Longevitize!: Essays on the Science, Philosophy & Politics of Longevity.”
As an ambassador, Franco seeks to write about the use of seasteading to minimize the problematic demographic consequences of life-extension therapies.
“I believe that Seasteading, and the construction of Very-Large-Floating-Structures (VLFS) in general, constitutes one of the most promising solution-paradigms for freeing up more living-space and resources. 75% of the earth’s surface area is water; thus seasteading has the potential of increasing available living-space and resource-space by an astounding 300%.”
