We’re over 99% of the way to $250,000 – Help The Seasteading Institute meet our 2010 fundraising goal by Friday!

When the ball drops at midnight tonight, December 31st, it will not only close out the year, but mark the deadline for the Thiel Foundation’s $250,000 matching grant.

Meeting this goal would be a huge accomplishment for the young seasteading movement. It would demonstrate to the Thiel Foundation that The Seasteading Institute is successfully broadening our donor base (from 6% non-TF donations in 2008-2009 to 33% in 2010!), help maintain our full 501(c)3 status with the IRS (which has requirements for breadth of support), and put us on a solid financial footing going into 2011.

The seasteading vision is bold, and there is much that The Seasteading Institute intends to do to make it happen — but doing it will take substantially more funding than we have today. We can already see that existing political systems are straining to cope with the realities of the 21st century, and we urgently need the innovation of seasteading to discover the next generation of governance technologies.

So humanity needs seasteading — and seasteading needs you — to meet our goal and create a track record of success that we can build on in future years.

Please go to www.seasteading.org/contribute to learn how you can help. Remember, we need your support by tonight, December 31st to be eligible for The Thiel Foundation’s $250,000 matching grant. Donations are tax-deductible in the United States.
