Does anyone have URLs for information like ocean depth maps, ocean current maps, and meterological info for open ocean locations? Also useful might be navigational hazard locations: while these areas of submerged hazards are a danger for commercial shipping, they could prove to ideal location for siting and anchoring a habitat.

I guess the term I was looking for is bathymetric maps.

Id forget about the
Id forget about the resources: competing for them is not worth it, but i agree about the anchoring.
I only just read up on EEC's, and its not as bad as i thought it was. It seems the only recognized claims by the international community is on resources, meaning we should be able to dwell much closer to land without having issues of sovereignity, and benefit from the better trade connections.
Cool
"The North Bank is the site of an artificial island project. The name of the island that is to grow around steel structure that had been anchored to the sea floor in 2003 at a depth of 11 meters is Autopia, and it is the projected center of a new micronation of the same name. Mauritius will claim and annex any new piece of land that might emerge in the area automatically, just as occurred in the similar case of the Republic of Minerva on the Minerva Reefs, which is now part of Tonga. Mauritius does already claim the entire area."
The only thing worth competing for is resources.
Squatters' rights are recognized in most societies. It also depends on how you're perceived- as a ship or as a home, or as an island. There are areas of the ocean worth mooring in becasue they can support you. There are other areas where life will be much harder.
