A boat with some large stabalizers can be reasonably stable these days. Not really sure it is quiet and smooth enough for me to keep hacking on a computer but it is getting close. The two problems I see with this is the price, like $4 mil, and the small number of square feet (for me, my wife, and 3 boys). Now this is a luxury yacht and a more spartan furnishing could probably be done cheaper. But this is sort of a competitor to seasteads and it is real. So it seems worth looking at. http://www.setsail.com/dashew/do_paradigm.html http://www.youtube.com/user/DashewOffshore
Consider SWaTH instead

Swath for family sized boats?
I have been on a small swath ferry and going downwind the waves were small enough that it did really well. But later in the day coming back into the wind the waves were too big for it and it was not a good ride. Have there been any single family sized swath boats? With a clever computer and stabalizers that went up and down with large swells but hid all the small waves from you, it could work well even at a small size boat.
