Hi,
My name is Carrie and I'm an undergraduate student majoring in Earth and Ocean science and minoring in philosophy. I live in Canada. I think the govt is immoral and I no longer wish to have any part in it. I'm fairly young, so I'm just making my way out in the world and I hope to earn enough money in the lucrative mining business to find a place where I can stay without supporting the govt.
I love controversial topics and I am currently reading the Blank Slate by Steve Pinker. The reason why I love controversial topics is because they excite me and I think I'm one of the few people who has the gall to talk about things like race and intelligence. People are simply too cowardly to do so, so I do it instead. I figure I don't have much to lose in the way of friends since I only have a few close friends anyways and those friends already know me well enough that my beliefs aren't shocking to them. It's a part of who I am. I also love technology and support the transhumanist movement.
I'm tired of trying to convince people that an anarchist society is viable. Instead, I will put my energy into creating one that actually works to show them that it works. Leading by example is the best way to lead IMO
The forum seems to be very quiet which is disappointing since I was very happy to find this site. I thought I would have to build an island out of 250,000 pop bottles like that one guy managed to do by himself. Since billionaires are funding this project, I won't have to be going through recycle bins. :)
Hi Carrie!

True, the posting frequency is low -- but at least people here think before they post, which is a plus compared to most other forums.
And do not get discouraged or bored and then leave us. We still have to reach critical mass :)

I follow this approach as well. I avoid to argue with someone as it is mostly a waste of energy and time on both sides.

True, the forum is quiet, but just bookmark: good discussions happen every now and then.
Im sure youll find people here with views similar enough to have common ground for an actual discussion, but with plenty to discus left still. The conference was a lot of fun in that regard also.
I should also pick up the blank slate: i really like what ive read and seen of pinker so far.

Excellently put. I could not have said it better myself.
The low activity on the forum is probably partly due to the awkward nature of the software. But probably like Christian suggests that most people have the good manners not to blather on about everything and anything. A virtue I myself have yet to learn, unfortunately...
Welcome to TSI!
Glad to see another recruit. There have been some really good posts over the past seven months. I recommend running over some of them to familiarize yourself with what is already out in the ether here.
Just out of curiousity, what are your thoughts on "race and intelligence"? Not that it matters concerning seasteading, but, like I said, just curious.
