You can learn more about seasteading and interact with other seasteaders at our talks, social events, and conferences.
SF Bay Area social events are tracked on this Meetup.com group (note that the calendar has RSS, iCal, and Outlook feeds available). In the future we hope to have regular socials in more areas.
Recordings and listings of past talks can be found in the talks archive. If you have a conference or organization that would be interested in hearing a talk about seasteading, please email talks@seasteading.org.
Our basic talk description is:
Seasteading: How Homesteading the High Seas Will Reform Government
Feeling apathetic about politics? We're here to give you hope. Building new cities on the ocean may sound like a strange way to make government work better, but we at The Seasteading Institute are convinced it is our best shot. Learn why, how we are working to make it happen, and how you can help.
It can be anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes in length.
We also have an alternate talk for libertarians, Structural Libertarianism: The Answer To Bad Government Is More Competition:
Despite much effort over the past decades, libertarian activism has not had substantial impact on the growth of government in the first world. This is no accident - the same economic and public choice arguments that tell us why freedom works can also be applied to see why it is so rarely found. This reasoning suggests that traditional activism methods don't address the root causes, and therefore won't work. Fortunately, it suggests an alternative - competing with governments, instead of complaining about them. Competition gives us the best chance to get Liberty In Our Lifetimes.
You can find lists of upcoming appearances on the TSI Events Calendar (XML, iCal, and HTML feeds are available).
