I’d love to see it. If seasteads get off the ground, I may well get to…

I imagine most seasteads will be quite small, with perhaps several hundred people living on them (well, that almost is the idea…). We’re going to get some nutty groups that wish to conquer everyone else. Think say of the Scientologists (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_Org) adopting the Seasteading concept – I dread to think about what they, or another cult, would do with reproductive technology and no restrictions (hmmm, I may have to make another thread to discuss this). Other, more minor skirmishes could occur between the Glorious and Mighty Slaving Empire and the smaller seasteads who have just been raided. While they may not have the resources to fight directly, Naval Merc’s will no dount be willing to do it… for a fee. However, bear in mind that these are fights between very very small nations, capable of fielding very very small militaries. I can actually imagine, then, actual deaths being quite rare, allowing warfare to become fun for all the family… :)

It will be interesting to hear other peoples visions of Micronational Naval warfare…

We didn’t even build one and we are already running imaginary warfare scenarios between them now, lol :)?

Well, it’s going to be inevitable. I’d rather we used it as an opportunity to make war into a harmless, fun for all the family activity in the process, by persuading the combatants to use paintball guns and flash grenades rather than live rounds and RPG’s.

Okay, perhaps not fun for all the family, but… I want wars I can enjoy, not wars where people are senselessly killed.

Always nice to plan for scenarios ahead of time. I think we should have some sort of council and when one nation is becoming to strong and could be a possible threat we have the right to search and question any staff of high power of that nation.

No. Just, no. You want a supermicronational power that can control micronations below it? I must say I prefer the old fashioned system, where a country unilaterally declares war on another if it’s getting too out of hand…

Well, what happens happens, hopefully we wont have a seastead that would want to declare war upon another seastead. There is alot of money being put into these seasteads and that would suck if one were to be destroyed. My idea was to have sort of like a UN but for seasteads where we all watch over eachother. You choose to be a part of the united seasteads though.

So, we can all vote to share out the ocean among us? Just like the UN?

No thanks. The UN is a cesspool; I’d rather not be a part of something like that.

Not really what I meant, this more for militaristic reasons. You dont have to be a part of it if you dont want to.

the question “who own the moon” is important because, one day, eventually, someonw will put a flag on the moon and try to claim it. this same problem applies to the ocean. then other people will come along and say “hey, they cant claim to own that!”. it may not seem like a big deal when they only claim a tiny piece of it, but why should one person be allowed to take what has always belonged equally to us all? that is why i take a democratic approach to seasteading on the oceans.

Moon colonazation would be extremley expensive.

I don’t care if it can also be extremly profitable as well.

You own what you build, simple as. On Luna, you only hold the land you’re using. That’s how it’s going to work out in practice, I imagine.

So, at the moment, no-one “owns the moon”.

But nations will certainly try to claim the moon once there is any cost-effective way to reach it.

That’s way, other than the issue of natural resources, I personally favor space habitats over moon colonies.

    I agree with Ken.
