    Shell’s impressive Prelude project is a floating LNG plant (FLNG) of unprecedented scale. -1600 ft LOA, 240 ft “beam”, displacing 600k tones. Designed for Category 5 cyclone conditions with full personnel complement remaining aboard, the plant will keep station via a turret/spread mooring system of a scale that has also never been attempted before. Shell intends to deploy this plant will deploy off of Northern Australia. What other locales might see similar plant facilities?

    That’s a pretty impressive project.


    While not a general-purpose seastead where someone like me could go to live, it’s still a big boost for seasteading technology.
