1. Step 1. Getting Your ‘Stead’
EXISTING OFF SHORE OIL RIGS THAT ARE BEING ABANDONED
Why isn’t anyone talking about this? These things are massive and can house over a hundred people. You wanna live on a seastead? Get a group of people together and buy or lease out from the oil company for one of these off-shore-rigs. I was just reading the other day about how its such a pain in the butt to dismantle these off shore rigs, all kinds of environmental concerns. Big Oil would probably be happy to abdicate responsibility for something that no longer is making them a profit.
2. Raising Capital/Making a Living.
You’ll likely have tyo take out loans/attract investors to make this an attractive option. That means you have to find a viable commercial strategy.
-Online Casino/Host for Servers.
-Real Casino/Hotel (could be regular stop for cruise liners)
-Bar/Strip Club: (Vegas on the High Seas).
-Fishing (doubt this is viable).
3. PLAY BY THE RULES UNTIL YOUR STRONG ENOUGH TO STAND ON YOUR OWN.,
-It took the colonists over a hundred years to declare independance from England. So don’t be in a rush to start your own country.
-Play by the rules. Hire lawyers and lobbyists, work with the politicians and make sure the project is legitimate!
4. The Sky is the Limit:
-You got your Stead, you got your cash flow. NOW it is time to expand. New businesses, new homes. Behold, a community is born! (until the next Katrina comes along).
first off, welcome aboard! What you’ve got there is a good, solid business plan and I particularly agree point 3 and the first part of the first bullet statement. I don’t think we have another 200 years though…
