Can it be a useful idea for a breakwater design – a system that can remove mass (and energy) from the surface at a rate of 4 m3 per second per 1 m2 of the surface? This is the thing considered by Intellectual Venture for hurricane taming.

The Salter sink could also be useful for OTEC. Instead of pumping cold water to the surface, this would bring the warm water down to the cold region.

Also, if you can hook the edge to reverse a protion of the flow, you cans get an artficial up-welling, by inducing cold water to flow toward the surface…
