    Just some ideas.

    Look up the term ‘Kelong’ and try to come up with a foldable version based on a houseboat.

    The aquaponics idea should also identify starchy breeds of sea plants (if these exist) and perhaps include a small mangrove concept which can be used to process grey water / waste and yetr float alongside the houseboat. This would of course be a settled colony set up. It is likely possible to entirely derive sustenance from an extended series of houseboats and of course eventually develop landmass in the form of Atolls and reefs.

    I read that it takes 5 years for a reef system to establish itself? Atoll and reef seeding should be the task undertaken by SSers. Not only would it stabilise the Earth and make more land available, it also could have other spin offs like acting as a massive purifier of the Ocean’s waste, though things like GMOs, radioactivity, chemicals or Sewage run off cannopt be handled with any ease.

    If existing governments would allow low density colonies within territorial waters, or at least liberate the system, something could be worked out. We do not want TAXES, VAT, GST, or RED TAPE or Big Brother or Big Government. Hows that sound friendly governments? Or must it always be either or with you and your police and military backed, plutocratic paradigms?

    The lands and wealth of the world belong to all mankind, so don’t be greedy and selfish and violent, intolerant.

    Deep water (territorial water free) Aquaponics attachments based from houseboats ringed with mangroves and seed reefs how about it? Needs research or expertise to formalise and convene. I am no exprt so wait for my findings or post if you’re an expert!

    Well tell me how to set up a quicker eco system and food source in the middle of the ocean. Waste can be used to create a brackish area for Mangroves (which use up the nitrite laden waste from us), and floating cages for growing of floating seaweed beds. Mobility could be sacrificed though if you don’t like folding or retractable cages. Idea that bad or just testing for a response? :P

    Fish cages, like the ones in Hawaii are the quickest way, BUT you have to provide a food source. The only reasonable way to do that would be the Sargasso Sea, off the East Coast of the U.S. Done with some of the stuff posted on here, in other threads, there could be fish, oysters, crabs, etc., raised in cage-cultures. Energy, primarily Solar in origin, is there. The relative lack of winds and storms would require means other than wind-powered and lack of strong currents kills water-power, so Solar is IT. From the seaweed, it may be possible to produce bio-diesel, but I have not looked into that. Note, this is also suggested in “Ganymeade Protocol”…

    The strategy that is most popular right now is to buy food from traditional sources and bring it to your seastead. Nobody thinks reinventing the wheel is the best idea. We only need the technology that makes seasteading possible. We have a whole section of the forum devoted to “Dreaming…”.

    @shred

    Nice numerology too, 7753??? I’ll start calling you Smith or is that the shill MIB posing as the good guys?

    Good luck on your paradigm of landstead dependence if no good governments appear to be ok with continental shelf SSing.

    It’s all about independence from landsteads and re-inventing government even. It’s dreaming for you cos somethings won’t work for some people, the can’t factor is too strong for you . . . are you a landstead ‘agent’ by any chance?.

    Other more positive readers can see the below aquaponics/kelong ideas though :

    Ninth Picture (Kelong)

    These could be in a smaller form that are extendable from your houseboat or pontoon.

    Try the below pic (imagine a second series of cages/nets attached to the side of a houseboat or pontoon, hung from the top and the whole structure submerged and containing fish or seaweed with crabs or shrimps, shellfish and what not) :

    Heres a source which should probably come with full zied farms. Maybe a few strings of mussel spats could be bought for less than $1000? Anyone in NZ that can ask if they sell in small qtys?
