i thought of a problem that will have to be faced by ALL seasteading entrepreneurs. banks wont lend to people for this. even if the product is 100% proven. lets say you have an internet company and ur income is about $5 million/ yr. on the mainland thats plenty of income to get approval for a $10 million loan. but on the ocean, every transaction has to be paid for in full without credit. theres no safety mechanism to protect the banks, so why would they loan any money?

good point – a seastead must be developed like a real estate investment, by sales / rent of living space, in a modular way – check palm dubai as model….every island has its own owner – no way to finance this in one piece…

i thought about it for awhile and i really dont want to build endless models. i just want to start making homes for people on the water. i think if this is built in 1/12 scale i could use it to attract a huge investment pot for the sake of building a real one.

    pretty soon i’ll have:

    2 outboard lower units – $365

    2 16″ propellers – $90

2 Fisher and Paykel alternators (the best for DIY energy)- $246

ouch, $700 sounds like a lot but its actually a hella deal considering what these things typically cost. i did some major hustling.

i cant wait to prove that i can make 250 watts!!!!

by comparison there is a commercially available model thats been on the market for 20 yrs and only makes 100 watts (look at their price).

adduno when this forumn is gonna go dark, but i hope u guys enjoy the holdays and maybe by the time we get back here i will have something awesome for u!

I’m trying to get the official shutdown date and time nailed down. At this point it’s looking like almost certainly not tomorrow, and probably Sunday night or Monday night. I’ll post in the shutdown thread once I know for sure.

i will make a test platform that will have 2 propeller/generators onboard. if i can get it to make decent power im gonna list it on ebay with a starting bid at the lowest price i would sell these for. if no one buys it i dismantle the platform and keep the propeller/generators for my model. if someone does buy it, and theres evidence that a market exists. im gonna do a production run to help me make more money and keep the truth marching on. i’ll save a couple from that run to use for the model.

Oceans dream may soon become a reality. with my floating turbine platform, he could tow it behind a sailboat and go anywhere for as long as he wants and still have power.

A funny thing happened on the way to the test platform…

Ocean is going to love it. i call it the “thingamaringi-dinghy”.

im hoping to make enough power so people can live adequately on a sailboat without coming ashore!!!

    more info in due time…

because this contribution was announced publicly, i’ll acknowledge publicly that i did recieved it:

    $20 – from Wohl

    $20 – from Ocean

thank u John and Ocean! John used one of his Forever Stamps (and sent actual cash thru the mail, shhhhh). You really ought to post ur design u showed me on the forum, dude. It may need some way of stabilizing it in rough water, but its something different i havent seen before it even has a dome!

thank u other contributors too! u know who u r.

    happy new year!
