Sandy! “1. Public Nudity – eg- Peacock feather studded sterling nipple rings should only be worn after sundown.” That made me laugh!

Since it’s not the bare breast that society has a problems with, but the exposed erect nipple :)…I would vote against the “peacock feather after sundown law:” and LET THE NIPPLES BE FREE 24/7.

Other than that and the fact that I strongly believe that I should have the God given right to to bring my Glock 9 mm and my Mosser 12 gauge shotgun aboard, it sounds good:)

Which Pacific island is that, Sandy? How about Clipperton Atoll?

To come back to the thread theme – so Sandy how do we picture your seasteading project …

    . . .

What is you plan to bring it out of blogsphere and into life ? – what about a cellular approach – or do you have access to serious funding ?

Why do you want to go so remote ? – a pacific island – why not stay in proximity of industrial muscle to allow a quick economic development as it was planned for the seasteading rincon project that was situated just 2 hours outside a major south american industrial muscle hub (cartagena).

Any deep thought on that? – ( hopefully we are done now on talking feathers and guns on this thread).

Are you actually negotiating the 99 year lease – (what is a smart idea for getting terrain to enable transition) or are you just scouting the place – can you share your scouting experience if you have scouted already.

    FAQ
    __________________________________________________________
    1. Why so remote?

The better to control media and competitor acess. and lots of ocean. It will be warmer during the next ice age. Also by happenstance thats where I discovered the first local interest.

    2. Is air service available? ArkkonSeaStead will joint venture a bi/tri weekly flight from nearby major air hubs.

    3. How can a person be a citizen of New Arkon? The general citizenship reqirements for adults age16 up will be posted on the website before

the launch of New Arkon. Specific skill positions will be posted as needed
    .
    4. Will there be a new currency? Yes, the bills and coins will be silver, gold bullion backed.

    5. Will there be private property and contracts? Yes, but no lawyers. Disputes will be settled by arbitration.

    6. What about religious tolerance? Personal, private practice of religion is allowed. There will be no public temples, religious

    schools, or public proselytizing.

    7. What about sexual preferences? What you do in the privacy of your mind or personal space is up to you.

    8. What about drug tolerance? Recreational quantities of most drugs will be available w/o prescription; however the rate of

    consumption will be monitored.

    9. What about private vessals? Private vessals staying a few days may anchor inside the seawall. Long term mooring with

    utilities will be available.

    10. Citizens are encouraged to be armed- single/double action pistol, and/or 30cm knife.

    11. The finished project will look somewhat like the splash pic at the top of my website. Until then, I anticipate a collection of floating hex tri-plexes for rent or purchase. I will put up a

    sketchup soon.

Thanks for the comments. Financing is problematic. I am hoping for an Angel or interested OceanLiner construction company to notice.

    Sincerely, sandy.

I am actually negotiating a lease. That is the reason for secrecy at this stage, since the exact details that are implemented may change from week to week. I believe we can make

a public announcement early next year, around March, with a ground-breaking ceremony in April for the ‘SeaStead Launch Site’.

Well from a project management point of view media and competitor access would not really create me a headache –

But a site in tuvalu or whatever you have in mind – where i must wait 6 months for the next ship to bring in a sack of cement or a bundle of rebar certainly would. Not to talk about a spare part for a concrete pump, or similar equipment…

Also the idea that i need to fly in an engineer from Australia (by private waterplane) to have a structure calculated and checked would give me a headache on the cost and timeline front.

So my questions are targenting for “have you really thought it trough and do you have a realistic approach” .

Have you ever in your life organized a building site weeks of transport away from a industrial spot ?

Fly in is not really a solution when it comes to large scale construcction.

Of course i have read your FAQ and it did not really give answers to that very basic kind of questions for a building site setup. Religious tolerance, rings and arms specifics, is probably not the kind of question a serious “angel investor” with construction experience and know how – capeable to pull that task off, will ask you in the first round.

So unless you ARE an excentric billionair who can afford the luxury to pull that off without answering any serious third party question – you might possibly want to answer some of that questions on your website…to enable a serious finance stream toward the project…

I understand that you have reserves in making some info public.

So for the case that you have thought that trough and have a plan in march …

Can we have a privat confidential chat about those themes of interest that might possibly lead to some form of cooperation? contact me at: (info@tolimared.com)

Wil- glad you noticed. Having reporters or competitors or busybodies around asking questions incessantly would be a big distraction at the beginning, and they have a tendency to report things out of context, giving the wrong impression. When the time comes, we will have a spokesperson for media relations.

As to the time lag- I was an external wafer fab (fabrication) manager at Texas Inst. and was responsible for planning raw wafer inputs, dopants, to fab sites in California and Idaho; then planning to have the finished wafers tested, packaged in Singapore, then delivered to customers. One solution is to have a leased fleet of small cargo vessals, say 5-11 depending, on continuous duty loop from our island to nearest big port, Philippeans, Japan, Los Angeles, etc. There would be a standard list to pick up for the Co-Op Grocery store, and any emergency thing that happened would be ordered by sat phone for the next ship to pick up. I would plan one to arrive every Fri, leave Mon morn rising tide.

Also i was a Reliability Engineer for 30 yrs, where i planned for things to break down. So we would have spares of critical items. If you cant pick a critical part, ‘You dont know your Onions’ as my granpa used to say. heh. I also worked my way through college as an airconditioning engineer, repairing central systems and installing them in new construction, often 70-90 miles out of the city, so i couldnt forget something and run back to the office to get it.

I think my profile with companies i worked at is public on linkedin.
    `
Hope this answers your concerns. Feel free to share this with any others interested.
I will post this Fri 7.30pm my time.

    Sincerely, sandy.

Flying supplies in would be expensive, but in all decisions, there is a cost-benefit trade-off. For instance, if we ran out of beer on Tuesday and had BBQ scheduled for Friday,

i think it might be justified. heh.

    Cutaway 1

    not sure where image went…

This is my first attempt at a Hex-Lilypad Tri-Plex. Cutaway view, I’ll discuss dimensions below. My sketchup skills always improve after half a doobie. heh. One of nature’s mysteries. I’ve looked at the Bergsted, and i like the garage concept. However, at the risk of raining on the parade, the first law of the sea comes to mind: ‘Keep tha Water Out tha Boat.’ And it appears a little complex to be assembled by semi-skilled humans.

The HexPlex will be entirely from flat plates 5cm thick, reinforced with 3cm steel mesh. Overall, the sides are 4.5 m high, the little mechanical room extending down in the center is another 2 m. It will be ballasted so that the waterline is about 60cm below the floor, allowing for 30cm double glazed windows that dont open. On top of the floor, outside, will have half the space covered with a simple roof, tilted a little to catch rain and store in cistern. If the edge of the hex is 5m, the inside and topside come to 21 m^2, suitable for a small efficiency apartment. The place i stay in Bangkok is abt 15m and feels ok to me.

Three of these kind of diamond shaped apartments will fit on one floating hex module. 17 anchored to a long pier from my launch site will house . . . . 51 seasteaders and a Poseidon Monument in a pear tree. heh.

I should have a sketch of an individual apartment by Monday. Criticism welcome. Oh, mabe Wil could do crude cost estimate for shipyards there – one hex 5m on edge 5m high, and then quaitity 17 (I’m always optimistic), and towing costs to location 3,000km west? This is not where the island is, will just give idea abt costs.

This is a general comment to those not familiar with the metric system. Get Over It, as the USA and Burma are the last holdouts for the english system. And for those of you who might be working together with me on this project, i’m a little eccentric if you havnt guessed. and i’m Persistant- thats failing 19 times and succeeding the 20th. Mabe a little OCD there, but i also jump around from concept to concept like a grasshopper in a frying pan, mabe a little ADD there. So i may be the next evolutionary step and the Normies running the asylum cant see it. heh. Happy Sailing, sandy.
Here’s a list of companies i worked at after college:
Boss at Retired, inc.; Reliability Project Manager Fujitsu America; Manager of Reliability Testing Seagate; Sr. Reliability Engineer Conner Peripherals; Sr. Component Engineer Granger Assoc.; Reliability Engineer Apple Computer; Sr. Component Engineer Atari; Marketing Specialist Four-Phase Systems; Product Engr Manager Signetics; Process Engineer Texas Instruments; Hi-Rel Product Engineer Motorola; Reliability Engineer Collins Radio. Dont forget- Your mileage may vary.
