I guess this the one that got away:

“A Russian cruise ship abandoned and adrift in the North Atlantic has been located about 2,400 kilometers off the west coast of Ireland, according to a US intelligence agency. With no crew or warning lights, the ship Lyubov Orlova has been adrift for two months and maritime authorities had been uncertain of its precise location.”

Can’t you claim abandoned ships in International waters for salvage or some such thing? Even if the engines were kaput could still anchor it somewhere and use it.

Nice find. Not only that u can claim. You can take IMMEDIATE POSSESSION, until paid salvage fees. But, since she is in fact under Cook Island Registry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MV_Lyubov_Orlova, plus a ghost ship now, there might not be to much of a salvage value because otherwise it would have been done by now.

Yep, if you claim $300k in salvage, and the owner won’t pay it, you might haveto keep the boat. Something i have not seen addressed yet is if the boat has old dock fees attached to it from sitting where it was for 2 years. On the other hand, if you land on it and use it in locations it is too expensive for the owner to go get it, just like it is right now, then obviously he won’t come get it from you. Still, the current owner was paying to have it towed to scrap, and he expected a profit at scrap prices, maybe if you paid scrap price to him right now, you may have yourself a boat.

May you payed scrap prices. Why would I pay scrap prices?  I do not have the money. Do you?

    Do you not understand “maybe”?

Why are you poking at me? Is that all that happens here any more?
