Well, according to the American Religious Identity Survey conducted in 2001, 76.5% of all Americans consider themselves Christian. Another 5% or so claim some other religious association. So if 80% of the entire country believes in some kind of religion, what does that say about religion's impact on a country's moral code?
And if that doesn't blow your mind there is only ONE proclaimed athiest in the ENTIRE United States Congress...and he isn't even a Senator!! Just a Representative from California (albeit a pretty powerful representative). And on top of that, he really isn't an athiest per se....he claims to be a "Unitarian who does not believe in a Supreme Being."
So, out of the 535 men and women who RUN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY, 534 of them are religious. How does that make any sense?
