The Seasteading Institute Reaches Its $250,000 Match Goal

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the continued support of our members, The Seasteading Institute met its $250,000 match challenge goal for 2010! Many of you donated at the last minute to help push us toward the finish line, and we want to thank everyone who helped us. The Thiel Foundation will be matching the entirety of the $250,000 challenge, making 2010 the most successful fundraising year in seasteading history.

With the match challenge fulfilled, we’re now able to move forward with our programs for 2011. Research endeavors are underway in the fields of seastead engineering, legal systems, and business models. We will also continue our movement-building with the goal of generating consumer and business demand for seasteads.

We’ll also use the funds to fill three new director positions:

Special thanks again to our members and donors, and happy new year to seasteaders the world over!
